"No such file or directory" when trying to start up wlan0 with ifconfig

I hate asking this question, cause it's so common, but every answer I find, seems to have other problems that don't coincide with mine.

I'm using Ubuntu 8.04.1 with the gOS 3 Gadgets BETA. My wireless card is a Dell wireless 1370 wlan mini-pci card. My network controller is a Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02).

I followed a step by step video off of youtube about setting up the drivers with ndiswrapper. Everything worked fine with no errors until I did
Code:

ifconfig wlan0 up
in which i get the error

Code:

SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such file or directory
so what do i do?

What does dmesg have to say? Other people who report a similar error seem to have problems loading the firmware for the wireless card.

If that is one of the problems you have found before which do not coincide with yours perhaps you should tell us what you have already done and ruled out.

Robin
