No Network Manager Icon?

I'm trying to get WPA working with my wireless connection in Edgy following this tutorial:
http://www.debianadmin.com/enable-wp...ntu-linux.html
I was fine with WEP. Having installed Network Manager though, I need to select my network from it but the icon/applet isn't present. Its definately installed and I can't invoke it from the terminal by typing network-manager or network-manger-gnome so any ideas?

Thanks
Adam

I am also suffering from this problem. I was told in irc.freenode.net/ubuntu that this is common, but I've not been able to find a solution yet (admittedly, I've not looked far yet).

If you found the answer, please can you post it for others to learn from?

Cheers!
