no ifcfg-wlan0

Hi There,

I have been working to get a Proxim Harmony wireless card working under fedora. I have been able to install the HostAP driver installed, as detailed here

http://www.archlug.org/kwiki/HostAP

Some progress was made. Now upon booting, I hear two beeps instead of one as PCMCIA devices are brought up, and one of the two LED's now blinks, while the other remains on (previously, both remained on, unblinking).

Still, I don't think the card is recognized. When I look at the network devices, it's not there. When I attempt to add it, I don't see the hostap_cs driver.

The creator of the rpm instructs that the file /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-wlan0 will need to be modified, but I don't see this file. What I do see is the file /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifup-wlan.

Any help is appreciated.

ifcfg-wlan0 can be created by hand or using a network configuration program.

to find the driver use rpm -ql <rpm name> to list all the files in the RPM.
You might need to copy this to the correct location under /lib/modules

I can't get to that HOSTAP site now, else I might have more detailed instructions, sorry.

success!

I have succesfully installed the hostap driver for my Proxim harmony wireless card and configured the interface. Sending this right now via the wireless card! Yay!
