new to pcmcia, how to identify what kind?

i have no clue about pcmcia

slackware 10.0, stock kernel 2.4.26, networking works with builtin nic, trying to go wireless, thinkpad a21m

documentation for thinkpad says '2 type I, 2 type II, or 1 type III/ cardbus 32 bit/ pcmcia 2.1', does this mean it can do 16 or 32 bit?

i tried 16 bit and 32 bit cards, carctl ident says '3.3 v 16 bit pc card, function 0: [busy], [bat dead], [bat low]'

lspci -v doesn't show anything with the card plugged in

thank you

You'll probably have to use ndiswrapper as not a lot of wireless cards work natively with Linux.

You'll need the Windows drivers from the CD that came with your card (or download from the web) --the files you usually need are xxxxx.inf and xxxx.sys.

Do a search on this forum --I've posted how to mset this up but can't remember the exact post.

It's not difficult and doesn't need any re-compiling etc etc. Install NDISWRAPPER amd all the wireless tools of course.

Cheers
