New dad needs help with new wireless card

I am in the process of upgrading my home wireless network from b to g. I bought a Netgear G card for my laptop (FC1), and I was able to install the firmware and driver for it. I even had it working for a day, but after a reboot or two, something went bad.

My wireless card is still recognized, the driver is working, and I can access my local network, but I can't access outside of my home network. It's not a DNS problem because using an IP address doesn't help. It must be device dependent because everything works fine when I pop in my old b card.

I'm sure it's some simple thing that I forgot to take care of, but with my ten-week-old son at home, I haven't been getting as much sleep as I normally should. :-)
