NetworkManager struggles to connect on open network

I am running Slackware 11 with Dropline Gnome and using NetworkManger to connect to my wired or wireless network. I have found that on any machine that I use ndiswrapper for my wireless connection, NetworkManager will not connect to open (non-encrypted) wireless networks. I have no problem at all connecting to my WEP network at home. Other laptops using native linux drivers connect to open networks using NetworkManager just fine. When NetworkManager fails to connect, I can easily connect manually using "dhclient wlan0" from a terminal window.

I have confirmed this on a couple of different systems using ndiswrapper.

I am running ndiswrapper v1.40 and NetworkManager v0.6.4 that is part of the Dropline system.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Bob
