Hello, I'm sort of new to linux, I got my old pc and turned it to a dbian server.I installed the debian-40r4a-etchnhalf-i386-netinst cd to install.I now use the server with an ethernet card.I want to use my Netgear WG311v3 wireless adapter.I have installed ndiswrapper and the last drivers of the official netgear site. I use the server without graphical interface, only terminal. All i get is this (root login):
debiangbox:/emu# ndiswrapper -l
wg311v3 : driver installed
device (11AB:1FAA) present
debiangbox:/emu# iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.
eth0 no wireless extensions.
what should I do more to make my wi-fi connect??? plz help...
SOLUTION FOUND!!!
The reasond this happend was that there was not actually a ndiswrapper module installed. All I did was:
find which kernel I have ,and then
apt-get linux-headers-2.6.24-etchnhalf.1-686
apt-get install build-essential module-assistant
apt-get install ndiswrapper-source
cd /usr/src
m-a prepare
m-a a-i ndiswrapper
modprobe ndiswrapper
iwconfig
and it showed up the wlan0. Now it's time to start searching for networks!!!
