hi

i've been working on this (on and off) for around 4 months..... here's the problem:

i have a fujitsu amilo 7400 laptop... centrino... ipw2100 card....
i used to run slackware, now using gentoo (the idea is rather interesting)...
i got the 0.53 module and the firmware, installed them... lsmod says the ipw2100 module is loaded........ i still cant figure out how to set it up... and i dont think the card is actually detected, cause lspci still doesnt recognize the card..... just calls it network controller... part of the config i need is for autodetection of the SSID, cause i move around a lot... i dont know if it's taken for granted in linux, so i'm pointing that out..... either autodetection, or a fast alternative...

if needed i can get the output for whatever and post it, but i'm currently booted into windows to do try figuring this out on my own........ but then again i've been trying for 4 months now and it's seems pretty hopeless.... thing is i normally dont have time to experiment lately, and the last time i used linux was over a year before i re-installed slackware, so i've sort of forgotten everything i learnt before.......
i'm stuck, and i need as much help as possible, cause i'm in need of linux (personally) and at the same time i have too much work at school to give it the time i need......

oh yea, one more thing... i dont have a GUI interface installed yet, and even if i could get it, i'd rather learn the CLI so please, i'd like to get this working purely through the command line...

i know that was long, but i needed to explain (so i dont sound like i didnt try hard enough yet)
