need help connecting to my wireless network
Hey guys
i was wondering whether you could help me out. I have a dlink DWL-650+ wireless card and am running the axc100 drivers on Red Hat 9. I have the module up and running and i configured it with wireless tools. I can ping the wireless access point, however, when i try to ping anyone else on the network or i try to ping a website (ip address or url) it says either
From 172.16.0.1 icmp_seq=1 destination host unreachable
From 172.16.0.1 icmp_seq=2 destination host unreachable
From 172.16.0.1 icmp_seq=3 destination host unreachable
From 172.16.0.1 icmp_seq=4 destination host unreachable
or
connect: Network is unreachable
I put nameserver 172.16.01 in /etc/resol.conf
I have absolutly no idea what the heck is going on and would like some help
Thanks in Advance.......

putting the nameserver 172.16.0.1 in your /etc/resolv.conf will not help you if you cannot even successfully ping it. what is your network configuration?
router/WAP -> machine ? or router -> WAP -> machine? do you use DHCP? do you use WEP (encryption key)? what's your IP and your access points IP?
There's a lot of factors in your question. please provide more information.

ok. so you use 172.16.1.30-40, but what is 172.16.0.1? if that's your router's address then you need to make sure that your netmask is set properly.
"ifconfig eth0", what is your netmask? change if need be: "ifconfig eth0 netmask 255.255.0.0". try to ping the router. what happens?
Did you setup your wep key with "iwconfig key <KEY>" when you played around with the wireless tools?

you didn't answer all my questions. you do not tell me the IP of your router, but only tell me the range of IPs? I take it the range means you have other machines? are they wireless? are they working? please provide more information.
