I recently installed ndiswrapper and it appears to have worked as my windows machine indicates that it is broadcasting a wireless signal ok with the essid, good signal.

However I can't seem to connect to the wireless router. Just get a "error host not found" or something like that when I open Firefox. I've used both iwconfig and ifconfig and everything seems to be set right. However it lists the wireless card as ath0 rather than wlan0 for some reason? What do I need to configure or adjust to fix this problem of not being able to connect to the router?

Also could someone point me to a list of network commands for adjusting and testing a wireless adapter?

Try

to bring the interface up and see if it grabs an IP address from your DHCP server (router). For wireless interfaces you can replace ifconfig with iwconfig (making sure you have wireless tools installed - you'll need this whatever happens). Post back with the shell error if this doesnt work.
