Ndiswrapper - trouble blacklisting existing driver

I'm trying to get a 3com 3crwe154g72 wifi PCMCIA card working under openSUSE 10.1.

Out of the box the prism54 driver attaches to the hardware but this doesn't work so I intend to use ndiswrapper. But I'm having trouble blacklisting the prism54 module.

So far I've added "blacklist prism54" to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist. This didn't work - after a reboot the card is still present within the network configuration section of YaST2. I then added "blacklist prism54" to /etc/modprobe.d/prism2. I don't know what this file does but I thought I'd give it a shot. But the driver still won't stop loading.

Any ideas? All help gratefully appreciated.

If I recall YAST network settings correctly (been a while), you can change the driver for the card to ndiswrapper, this should cause it to use ndiswrapper instead.

Just go into the YAST network device section and enter ndiswrapper in the field for driver.

As for blacklisting the prism driver, check out the hotplug blacklist file.
