I've been trying to get my Dell truemobile to work for the past couple days with little success. I have installed the latest ndiswrapper files and installed the bcmwl5a.inf driver file that dell provides. This gets the green light on the network card to light up and linux can find it's mac address, but i get no connection. When i type iwconfig i get:
Code:
wlan0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:"" Nickname:"localhost.localdomain"
Mode:Auto Frequency:2.437GHz Access Point: FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF
Bit Rate=54Mb/s Tx-Power:25 dBm
RTS thr=2347 B Fragment thr=2346 B
Encryption key:off
Power Management:off
Link Quality:100/100 Signal level:-57 dBm Noise level:-256 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:4383 Missed beacon:0
and typing ifup wlan0 gives:
Code:
Cannot get driver information: No such device
Determining IP information for wlan0... failed.
I think the cannot get driver information has to be the problem, but it makes no sense why it can find the mac but it then says not present. If you need to see any other files, just let me know.
