NDISWRAPPER 1.1 and FEDORA CORE 3

I am attempting to setup my wireless card for my emachines 6805 laptop running Fedora Core 3. When i run the "# ndiswrapper -i filename.inf " i get the following "Installing netbc564
Unable to create directory /etc/ndiswrapper/netbc564. Make sure you are running as root
" . I am logged in as root. Any suggestions?

Are you logging in as root or are you using su to become root? Also, does root have write permission for the /etc directory? It would be odd if it didn't, but it would be worth a check.

I have tried both logging in as root and su. Neither have worked. i chmod 777 /etc folder. Same thing.
