My system freezes after I issue the "modprobe ndiswrapper" command.
 

My system freezes after I issue the modprobe ndiswrapper command.
My wireless card is Belkin F5D7000 PCI card with BCM94306 802.11g (rev 03) chipset.
I have an ASUS motherboard with a built in 3Com Ethernet card. CPU is P4 2.3 GHz.
I have installed SuSE 9.1 from DVD with out any glitches.
I installed ndiswapper that came with SuSE 9.1 DVD with YaST software install.
The installation created many directories and files but they don’t look the same as those stated on the Ndiswapper Install “Quickstart guide”. Because I don’t know what I am doing, I left them unchanged.
I copied the bcmwl5.inf from the Belkin CD to my home directory; (home/mjc01/local/wireless/ bcmwl5.inf)
As root user I issued the command: ndiswrapper –i home/mjc01/local/wireless/ bcmwl5.inf
I issued the command:
ndiswrapper –l
And it responded;
Installed ndis drivers:
bcmwl5 present
But after I issued the command;
modprobe ndiswrapper
The system freezes; keyboard and mouse do not work. The only option is to hit the reset button or the off switch.
After rebooting (I hate to say that) I issued the command “dmesg” but didn’t see anything related to the wireless error. (BTW how do I reset dmesg to a fresh start?)
I read the FAQ on Ndiswrapper web page and it refers to “cursor stops blinking, no response to mouse or keyboard” and the acpi=off but I don’t know how it was set to off and I don’t know how to set it on.
The Belkin F5D7000 PCI card has two LEDs but none is lit.
I edit the /etc/ndiswrapper//*.conf file to EnableRadio|1 but nothing happens.
My kernel is 2.6 so I should disable CONFIG_4KSTACKS but I don’t know how to do that either.

Please help :(

you did not say which version of ndiswrapper you are using.. but on two systems i get lockups like you are having with 0.9 & 0.10, I would recommend trying .7 or .8.
