More wireless problems with MN-730 on ubuntu 8.10

I have followed every guide there is for this.
I last tried the GUI version of ndiswrapper Windows Wireless Drivers.
That app says my hardware is present and I installed the driver, but the network manager does not display any wireless networks available, the wireless network part is greyed out.

I am at a loss, and I did search Google, this forum and the user manual before posting.

No I didn't, but that guide seems to be for Atheros chipsets, whereas I have a Broadcom chipset ( sold by Microsoft model MN-730)

Unless I'm totally wrong and the Atheros drivers would work for Broadcom?

Thanks
