monitor mode


hi

howto check if the wireless chipset,
for example Ralink RT2860 fully support monitor mode ?

Well, put the card into monitor mode with a command like "iwconfig wlan0 mode monitor" and see if you get an error. If there is no error, then it supports monitor mode.

If you want to figure out if a particular driver supports monitor mode without the hardware (such as the case where you are looking to buy a new adapter for monitor use), just check the documentation for that driver.

and what about

# iwconfig wlan0 mode monitor

if no error then a wireless chipset should support monitor mode or I'm completely wrong ?
