modprobe ndiswrapper


how long is it suppsoed to take when i run modprobe ndiswrapper, it didnt freeze i dont think cuz i can ctrl+c out of the command. i installed something from linuxant to change the 4k stack size to 16k stack. the processor is a AMD K6-2 and i am pretty sure the i586 is for that. any ideas?

Not so long. For me a message pops up saying that it has added ndiswrapper. It's about a few seconds. In an older version I had it crash sometime but then I couldn't get out with ctrl-c so I don't think that's the case.

if it not doing it in at least 3-5 minutes then i'd suspect you havent got the correct drivers for the chipset! the ndis... installation says NOT to use the drivers from your disk it could cause freezing or crashing of your kernel that may mean not directly freezing but nothing happening i would say was freezing, but i have only had alittle bit of experience of ndis...

First, make sure your card (whatever it is) is supported by ndiswrapper. (Click here )

Second, make sure you have the proper driver for your card as listed on the same page.

Third, make sure you have version 1.1 of ndiswrapper. If not, get it.

Fourth, install per the instructions.

Step 2 is critical.
