Microsoft MN-710 Wireless

Ok this is becoming a huge pain im my ass!
I downloaded redhat, installed it and everthing to find out it didnt accept my USB networking thing :P lol
Im a total linux n00b, ive succesfully installed numerous linux distributions, and played around with it but i never tried the internet before.

Now i installed i think its called Wlan
and i tried running this command:

cd /etc/pcmcia
./network start wireless

And it works, but i have no idea what it does, and i still cant connect my card up to this
I read a simular problem somewhere else on the fourms, but i never got it solved by that, and i guess microsoft uses prism? Right?

PLEASE HELP!
-Steve

Hi and welcome to LQ http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...icle&artid=331 although discussing MN720 and 730 would be a good start point.

It may be for SuSE, but the principles are the same - you need Ndiswrapper and the install files.

Red Hat 9 is OLD. I wonder why people still download it. If you want Red Hat...get Fedora Core 3. Is there a ndiswrapper for that?

Or you could just compile it in either 9 or FC3.

You can do it on Red Hat, but it's just a bit dated. Came out like two years ago.

You'll have to compile it yourself. Get the source download, and go from there.

Compiling shouldn't be too hard. In Linux compiling stuff is very scripted, so you should be able to run 3 commands to get everything installed. Then you configure it as the readme says.
