Greetings all,
I purchased a 'Spirit' 802.11b wireless USB adaptor that has an Atmel chipset that wouldn't work out of the box with Mandriva.
It produced an ID from /proc/bus/usb/devices Vendor=03eb ProdID=7613.
dmesg produced an output relating to firmware drivers that failed and indicated going to
http://thekelleys.org.uk/atmel/ to download the firmware.
I downloaded the firmware atmel-firmware-1.3-1fc3.noarch.rpm and still no luck.
I discovered that rpm -qpl atmel-firmware-1.3-1fc3.noarch.rpm sent the firmware files to /lib/firmware/ , so I then simply copied the files all over to /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/
This fixed the recognition problem of the USB wifi adaptor and then armed with
http://www.jennings.homelinux.net/atmel_92.html I am happily wireless with the product.
Cheers
