linux (debian) doesn't recognize my atheros wireless card

i have linux debian 4 and Toshiba a215-s5837, amd Turion 64 X2 dual core mobile, with atheros wireless card.
the problem that i have is that linux doesn't recognize the wireless card.
i googled for a solution and i tried to install ndiswrapper package and other module. and downloaded win XP driver and used the INf file to load the module. but it didn't help me.
can someone help me to find a solution to my problem? step by step or even give me a good link. ?
thank you.
Yaron.
p.s i have another Toshiba laptop with the same card, the cpu is Intel and i have no problem with linux recognizing the wireless card.

Did you look into the madwifi driver?

madwifi should work, it works on my Eeepc that uses atheros.

Why not just use Module-assistant and install the madwifi packages that are already in Debian ? (non-free must be in your /etc/apt/sources.list) it's pretty simple actually...

aptitude update
aptitude install build-essential module-assistant madwifi-tools madwifi-source
m-a update
m-a prepare
m-a a-i madwifi
modprobe ath_pci

There are full debian notes on the madwifi page somewhere - I used them the other day - tells you what repos to set up, etc
