Question linux and wifi newbie! please help!

i have a laptop with slackware 9.1 running on it with an ma401....
i have no clue how to get it started in linux at all...
i have read some stuff and im so confused....
i hate to be a nuisance...but can someone please help me figure this out?
i mean....i havent even put the thing in yet..

please help me out and please excuse my stupidity1!!!!!

Humm just a quick reply...
slakeware is maybe not the good distro for a "beginner" try mandrake instead, even red hat or suze.

You should probably play around with knoppix on a desktop with a wired internet connection. That way you can learn the linux environment and search for anything you don't understand.

You gotta walk before you run.

I am also a beginner with an ma401 trying to get working. This is my first linux installation and it went pretty good. I am not trying to get the netgear to work. I have it locked (Seems to be linked with access point the light is solid) but I cannot get to the net or my lan.

Well my question is...

Is there a beginners guide for linux somehere?? I have suse 9.0 now.
