Linksys WAP54G Inside the network?
I've been trying to find documentation showing the setup for a wireless access point inside of a network. By that I mean.......
dsl modem-->--rh9server/firewall-->--switch/hub-->--WAP54G-->--laptop
Right now I have several computers that feed off the switch and get their ip's via dhcp from the rh9 server. My problem has been the introduction of wireless. What should be the proper ip settings? It seems my laptop (Compaq 2580) can't get an ip via dhcp through the wireless access point. Here's some ip's in my system.....
10.0.0.1 dsl modem
10.0.0.150 eth1 on rh9 server
192.168.0.1 eth0 on rh9 server
192.168.0.2 Wap54g
I've also let the WAP get its ip from the rh9 server and this seems to work fine. My laptop (running windows xp) seems to "see" the wireless connection, but I get no access through it. Running ipconfig on my laptop shows a strange ip of
169.254.253.4
with no gateway. My normal gateway should be 192.168.0.1. I can ping the WAP from the rh9 server, but not from the laptop. In fact, I can't ping the WAP from the laptop, either. I've even tried giving the laptop an ip of 192.168.0.5 and I still can't ping the WAP.
The WAP I'm using is a Linksys WAP54G.
Thanks,
Curt
