Large file transfers kick me off my wireless network.
 

I have a SITECOM wl-114 wireless router. I've been using this setup for about a year now. Its always fine until I want to transfer a large file from one local machine to another local machine.

In KDE I am told that the transfer has stalled, and when I check, I always find I no longer have internet access until I reboot the router. A certain amount of the file usually gets transferred, although the amount varies for each attempt.

I've looked at the settings for the router and dont see anything that looks relevant, although I dont know much beyond the basics of networking.

Can anyone help me resolve this frustrating problem?

What's the brand/type of your router?
Are you using Wep/Wpa?
What are the settings for the packet-sizes/buffer?

The router is a SITECOM wl-114 wireless router.

If by Wep/Wpa you mean encryption, then no. I have disabled it on the router to make linux configuration easier.

I dont know how to get information regarding packet size / buffers. I have checked every menu in the configuration http daemon of the router, but found nothing like this.

You might find a possible solution there.

Thanks pegasys. Ive actually been to some of these mailing archives before that google is turning up, but I dont really understand what theyre talking about. One page is explaining Port Forwarding & NAT, so I'll start there.
