knoppix 3.7 and linksys wpc54g card
I tried a search, and keep coming up with little. I just installed Knoppix 3.7 to my harddrive on a Dell Inspiron 4100. Everything went flawless and it now successfully dual boots between win xp and knoppix 3.7 ( even the touchpad works, which RH couldnt seem to manage). All except for the linksys wpc54g wireless card. I know lots of people are having trouble with this, and so am i.
Ok, when in the GUI there is a ndiswrapper config tool, which wants me to find a .inf file. I am using a brand new lsbcmnds.inf file which i downloaded from linksys. After i enter this in, and click ok, it drops me back to the desktop and no internet. am i missing some shell commands or anything? It's based off of Debian, so maybe it is the same kind of setup as Debian? I have searched a few sites, and editing the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-wlan0 file didn't help, nor did it exist untill i made it. also, i made sure that the only security setting on the router (linksys 4port wireless router) is MAC address filter. i disabled WEP because i heard that it doesnt work with linux and the wireless cards. thanks in advance |
drive file
bcmwl5. that seemed to work. I don't exactly know how. Also, i used Linuxant driverloader. Now, i'll have to figure out how to switch between AP's, going from home to school. . |
