kinternet connects, gets a dhcp address, but no gateway or dns

I am running kinternet, and it seems to connect to access points and get an ip address, but I still cannot surf the web. It appears to have recieved its IP via DHCP as per my configuration, however it does not seem to
show any gateway IP address or dns ip's either. I cannot ping a static public ip address, I cannot ping google either. With windows, DCHP means it automatically grabs the gateway IP address and the DNS servers, how can I configure suse9.3 kinternet to do the same?
I am newbie to this.
thanks

-Jon

P.S. I canot ping an internal IP either.
