iwconfig help

Hi guys, I got the Orinoco PC card8410-WD. This card is detected by Suse 9.1 which I'm using now. I though that when you typed this command:
"iwconfig eth0 essid linksys" the card was supposed to start and able to connect to the internet. I also tried "ifup eth0" and get this:

eth0 device: "Lucent Technologies",
eth0 configuration: wlan-bus-pcmcia
eth0 warning: using NO encryption
DHCP client is already running on eth0

Then I do:"iwconfig eth0 essid linksys" and nothing happens.

What should I do?? Thanks!!

Looks like it connects with ifup command. What does ifconfig eth0 say after running ifup.

You can set the essid permanently using
YAST->Network Devices->Network Card.

BTW, 9.2 has improved the YAST screen layout
for wlan so it is not so hard to find the proper screen.
Wireless networking has also improved.
