(FYI---treat me like the Linux-n00b that I am.
Over the past 5 or so years I've done a handful of installs (mostly Redhat) but am a Windows/PC network admin by trade)
I've got an HP NC8000 laptop (1.7ghz CPU, 40gig HDD, 1gig Ram) running a dual-boot of Windows XP Pro and Fedora Core 3.
The initial install of Fedora Core 3 was kernel 2.6.9-1.667 which detected the WIRED lan adapter (Broadcom)---but did NOT auto-detect my wireless. (the Intel 2200)
Once I got Fedora up and running---I completed taking all the "up2date" updates.....Now I have kernel 2.6.10-1.770_FC3 and upon reboot it detected my Wireless network card.
I've updated the wireless driver to version 1.0.2 (which I got here--> h t t p : / /i p w 2 2 0 0 . s o u r c e f o r g e . n e t / ), I've also downloaded the latest 0.19 firmeware and dropped it in /lib/firmware. ( h t t p : / / 0 h 1 . c o m / n o d e / 2 4 6 )
Everything SEEMS to be correct, if I input the SSID and my WEP key, the wireless appears to associate with the access point (the MAC address changes from all ZERO's to the correct numbers) ---but it wont grab a DHCP address. You can see a screenshot here-->

If I look in the network configurator, it says the wireless "eth1" is not activated. If I try to activate it, I get an error that it cannot be activated.
If Anyone would like to help me get this up and running--I would be eternally grateful. Through the forum, emails or IM chat ---I have no preference...
Thank You Linux Community!!!!
