Exclamation intel(r) pro/wireless 2200bg Help

I have a laptop with an intel(r) pro/wireless 2200bg built in. I used the Knoppix live cd and my wireless internet worked with no problem. So, I decided to install suse 10.0 with KDE and it wont work. I figured it would work since they are both KDE but it doesn't. Without the internet I have no purpose for having linux, so if anyone could tell me how to get the card working it would be greatly appreciated.

The first thing to understand is that KDE is nothing but a GUI interface. I has absolutely NOTHING to do with the operation of the computer. There are some tools that KDE provides to make configuring a bit easier, but getting devices to work is the job of the OS not the GUI. That is one big change from Windows where the GUI is the OS.

Anyway, it is likely that either Suse didn't include the driver for your card or that it didn't detect the card and install it. So open a console, and run (as root) the command lsmod. If Suse loaded the driver, you should see something like ipw2200 in the list. If you don't see that in the list, try running modprobe ipw2200 as root. If you don't get an error, check lsmod to see that ipw2200 was loaded and if it was, then your card should be active.

If you did get an error, post it and we'll go from there. If the error is something like "module not found", then Suse probably didn't include the drivers, in which case you can get them (and installation instructions) from here.
