Installing Belkin F5D6020 wireless card
Hi Im trying to install a Belkin F5D6020 wireless card on a Dell Inspiron 5000 with Fedora Core 2. I was following the instructions given at...
(sorry i didn't post at least 5 so i can't post the address to the page for you)
when I searched the web for a "pcmcia-cs"rpm i found the newest version and tried to install it. When I did i recieved the error "conflicts with file from package pcmcia-cs-3.2.7-1.5". From this i took it that the pcmcia file was already installed and that I could proceed to the next step. As I following the instructions more I had to go to another page which had all these files on it that i could download.
(sorries cant post the url)
I found only fedora core 1 files, but i assumed that they will still work on fedora core 2. I downloaded three files.
kernel-wlan-ng-0.2.1-pre14.i686.rpm
kernel-wlan-ng-pcmcia-0.2.1-pre14.i686.rpm
kernel-wlan-ng-modules-fc1.1.2188-0.2.1-pre14.i686.rpm for
the first one worked fine when installed. when i installed the second one it gave me and error. "Failed dependencies: kernel-pcmcia-cs is needed by kernel-wlan-ng-pcmcia-0.2.1-pre14". At this point i was confused. I thought the pcmcia-cs file was already installed since i got the conflict earlier. Can anyone help me? I'm very new to linux. To get where i am now with my knowledge i needed to do a lot of literature research. All im trying to do is get my wireless card to work with the network.
Thanks and Aloha,
Windell
