Install Madwifi in Fedora 17
Dear all,
I tried to install Madwifi driver in Fedora 17 but it looks like that it does not work.

I have a Atheros AR9285 PCI-Express card and ath9k installed by default but I would like to install Madwifi in order to use some futures which looks like it doesn't work with ath9k installed.

So I SVN Checkout the latest madwifi and then did make and make install, everything appeared to be fine and I ran the modprobe ath_pci command and it loaded the module but when I am doing iwconfig I still can see only wlan0 and no wifi0 or ath0.

I appreciate if you can help me with this.
Best Regards,

Install Madwifi in Fedora 17
Turn off the network communication manager before configuring card.
(i.e the atheros interface card)

To turn it off temporarily
: service NetworkManager stop

To check the status
: service NetworkManager status

To turn it off permanently
: chkconfig NetworkManager off

Create a file "ath_pci.conf" under /etc/modprobe.d/ and copy below lines in it.
This is a configuration file that is loaded everytime the system boots

"## Start Atheros Stuff
alias wifi0 ath_pci
alias ath0 ath_pci
options ath_pci autocreate=sta
## We put autocreate=ap to make it access point
## End Atheros Stuff"

"Then blacklist the ath9k driver by adding below entry to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

blacklist ath9k

And reboot the system. The ath0 interface should be visible now after doing ifconfig ath0 up.
