ICS-- wired Ubuntu 7.10 to vista over ad hoc wifi

ok here goes again. ok got my ubuntu reading the belkin f5d7050 wifi wifi radar can see some networks in my neighborhood. i have had this working in xp pro. i want to share my wired connection on a desktop machine with a vista laptop over an ad hoc p2p. ive tried to set the essid on both but cant get an ip on either. manually i set one in ubuntu but it still wont connect. i launch the ad hoc on vista first, wifi radar sees the connection but i cant get an ip. this is a real pain bc i would like to use linux on this machine, but i need the vista laptop online to be online too.

thanks

So you want to have a wired connection to your linux box then wireless from the linux box to a windows machine?

Then Google "Linux bridging" You have to set up a bridge between your Ethernet NIC and the wireless NIC in the Linux box. But don't get your hopes up. Not all the wireless drivers will support this.

For $40 you can get a wireless router that will do this for you. ZyXel P-330W is a good option.
