How to turn off Wireless Networking Kill Switch?
I am running Ubuntu 8.04 on an Acer Laptop with Intel Pro Wireless 3945 ABG.
I cannot get a wireless connection. My guess is that it is somehow turned off. There is a small toggle switch to turn on/off the wireless in the front of this computer; when on, it flickers yellow. It remains off, in either position! Finally, this is a dual boot setup and the wireless works fine on the other side. The network controler and intel chipset are recognized. You can always punt and use ndiswrapper. If you have the wireless device working on Windows, then you already have the required driver files. Google "ndiswrapper" or search this site for examples of how to get it working. |

Hardy doesn't support the 3945 at all well. You need to get the support in backports - then even the light (on Dell) works again, and you can also use an encrypting router.
