How to supply password at boot after installing new kernel version
Hello,
I have a somewhat unique situation with a server that I manage remotely over ssh. The server is connected to the network through secure wifi. I used the Kubuntu network manager to define the wifi connection as a system connection, so it connects automatically after boot. However, I noticed that every time I install a new kernel version, the wireless connection is not restored after the following reboot. I believe that it waits for me to supply a password - either the wifi password or the wallet (unfortunately there is no monitor available that supports the resolution it uses at that point, before starting kdm, so I cannot see the prompt). If I press enter at that point, the boot sequence continues normally, but the server comes up without networking. I can only get the network to start by opening system settings and re-typing the wifi password. Does anybody know how I can make the server not ask for a password after a kernel update? What are the config files involved in this? |
Why don't you boot into runlevel 3 and find out what password the machine really needs?
