How to get the details of a android phone connected to wifi ?

Hi,

How to get the details of an android phone connected to the wifi network.Even I know the IP of the device as we can see it from the phone it self how to fetch some information about the phone like its os version (2.2.x Froyo,2.3.x Gingerbread etc ),Model of phone etc.

My aim is to identify an android when IP is given to me.I got some tool like
Quote:
nmap
,but it is not showing a full details of phone by which I can recognise it is as an android phone,is there any other tool or mechanism to identify the phone if the IP is given.

kindly tell some suggestion, this is required for my project work.

Thanks

Tools like nmap can only guess the OS based on fingerprinting the tcp/ip stack (behaviour based on specific packets/flags), the only way to obtain the kind of information you're looking for is to connect to a service on the phone that provides the information. It may be possible that certain services (upnp, mdns) may send probes out on the network that leak information but this wouldn't be a deterministic solution.

Hi,
Thanks for your answer ,the difficulty in using upnp is we have to install a https server in the android phone which will response to the client(Here my PC ).
I do not want to install any application in the android ,simply I have IP and I want to get the details of the android at least I want to recognise the IP as an android phone.

I am searching for this a long time but not getting a perfect solution for this.

Kindly give me an idea to solve this problem.

Thanks

Like I said, there isn't a solution that doesn't involve a service running on the phone.

Actually, thinking about it .. you may be able to extract the information from the DHCP server via vendor class info, not that I've played with them recently but it could be possible.

You'll need to read up, I haven't touched it for several years since I was playing with DHCP on Solaris, here's a couple of links:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic...identification
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/anto_rocks/a...25/380231.aspx

Basically if you can get your phone to pass information via option 60 to the dhcp server, you should be able to query the server to match the ip address with the hardware/firmware model.

It would depend on how you configure the dhcp server, but for something basic you may just be able to grep through the leases file.

Hi,
This

Quote:
grep through the leases file.
means I have to read the dhcp servers lease file or my local lease file as I can see it in my local system.but it only having my own IP and the IP of the server.

but ,how to know the android's data ,kindly tell about this.

Thanks

It's up to you to come up with a solution that meets your needs, I've merely been offering pointers for possible directions you could look in. You need to remember that we're here to help you help yourself, not to perform work on your behalf.
