FOLD SANDURA:
Your post early on was right on the money! I guess all of the playing and messing with everything had me confused but after taking off for a while I re-read your post and tried again, this time using the file you said to. Turned it off and back on - here I am running wireless!

Thanks to everyone for working with me. Even for the posts that didn't solve my problem, I learned a lot about the whole driver issue, file locations and editing in vi!!

I really appreciate it all!!

Glad to hear you got it working. Fold Zandura gets it right sometimes.;) ;) ..

any chance you can help me through my next problem? the KEY. I tried copying the 26-digit key from the base station management GUI but that didn't work.

And hey, thanks a lot for the help! I think with the help of this site and you guys I might make it as a linux guy!

That should be all you need to do. It sounds like you are running 128bit WAP. Try using 64bit WAP and see if that works.

Vincent_Vega 12-19-2003 03:30 PM

Yeah, I was trying 128-bit and i wondered about trying 64-bit but didn't. I'll do that now and let you know how it goes. Why would 128 cause a problem? I assume Linux will support 128-bit but it definitely didn't do well when I tried.

Thanks!

Vincent_Vega 12-19-2003 05:15 PM

OK, it's all good. I set up a 64-bit encryption key without problems. I guess that ends this thread!
Thanks everyone for your help!

The 128bit key problem was a shot in the dark. But aleast it is working @ 64bit.

Vincent_Vega 12-20-2003 04:41 AM

....and that's good enough for me! - for now!
:)

cannot change essid under Managed mode

i am writting you because i still could not get my card to work after a couple months, right now i am using the ndiswrapper under mandrake 10 community. Ndiswrapper worked with my windows drivers from the cd and the card has been recognized. However when the card is on Managed mode i cannot change my essid at all, with some reading accross forums i read something that i realized was happening here: it has functionality under Ad-hoc mode, where i'm able to change essid and everything is recognized including my Acess Point.

Do you have any ideas of what i could do?
I would really appreciate your help, with anything that may cross your mind.

Anybody, help....

thank you in advance...
