help with wirless on Ubuntu

I'm trying to connect to a wireless network at my university, so I have no access to the router. IPs are dynamic. I have an Orinoco 11a/b/g silver combocard in a dell Inspiron 9100

Here's what I'm trying to do:

Code:
ifconfig ath0 down
iwconfig ath0 essid wlan01
iwconfig ath0 key <key here in hex>
ifconfig ath0 up
dhclient ath0
everything seems to be going okay until the last command. I get this:

sit0: unkown hardware address type 776
sit0: unkown hardware address type 776
Listening on LPF/ath0/00:20:a6:51:fb:dc
Sending on LPF/ath0/00:20::a6:51:fb:dc
Sending on Socket/fallback
DBCPDISCOVER on ath0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 6
DBCPDISCOVER on ath0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 14

and then it quites.

I'm very new to linux, so please be patient if it's something stupid. Thanx

just for more info, if I type ifconfig I get the following:

Code:
ath0 Link encap:Ethernet Haddr 00:20:A6:51:FB:DC
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX patckets:0 errors:4601 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:4601
          TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier 0
          collisions:0 txqueulen:199
          RX bytes:0 (0.0) b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)
          Interrupt:19 Memory:e0b40000-eob50000

sit0 Link encap:IPv6-in-IPv4
          UP RUNNING NOARP MTU:1480 Metric:
          RX patckets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier 0
          collisions:0 txqueulen:0
          RX bytes:0 (0.0) b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)
note: I typed that by hand, so forgive any typos
