Help installing USB 11b WLAN with Agere Chipset on RH 9 kernel 2.4.20-8

I have been trying this for a long time now, and i can't even get Motorola USB 11b wirless adapter built off the Agere chipset to even blink and LED. All the drivers and programs i try just dont do anything at all. any help on this would be greatly appreciated, as i have been trying to get the thing to work now for about 8 months...
