Having some trouble getting linux-wlan drivers working
I have a Linksys WPC11 wireless card, and it works fine with the orinoco drivers that I compiled into the kernel, but I wanted to try to get the wlan drivers to work. I downloaded the Slackware package and installed it, and then restarted the PCMCIA package. After I did that the internet stopped working, and I had no eth1(which was the device for my wireless card) and no wlan0 either. After this I tried to recompile the kernel, and not inclucde the orinoco drivers at all. Well whenever I rebooted to try out the new kernel, it hung during the boot process whenever it got to "Staring cardmgr[71]". I let it sit for a while, but nothing ever changed. So I shut the computer off and unplugged the wireless card, and it booted up without freezing. When I tried plugging it in, there would be a kernel panic and the machine would freeze.
I got it working again by removing the wlan drivers and recompiling the kernel to have the orinoco drivers built in statically and now it works fine, but I would still like to install the wlan drivers. If anyone has any suggestions on getting this to work, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help.
