Good wireless nic card (pcmcia) for ubuntu/nubuntu
 

what are some good wireless cards that i don't need to find drivers for. I am running nubuntu. thanks

You might want to try out anything that works with ndiswrapper. list here

do all wireless nic's for linux use ndiswrapper? I'm trying to avoid using it.

no, ndiswrapper isn't unavoidable, but you can look up how well is a chip is supported under linux. This list helped me many a time to find a native driver in linux.
Example : A quick search on google, and I found out that the rt2x00 project provides a driver for it.
google again, found that support is integrated into the kernel...

just find a card that uses a supported chip, and that you like. That was my idea.

It has an Atheros 5212 chipset (which is known to be problematic) however I folowed some steps in this post here (it's a post from me with the links to what I did) http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...47#post2673147 and I have been up and running without issue and no drops, I have 3 of these cards in use ( 2 on windoz machines and 1 ubuntu 7.4)

An alternative solution, if you have a wired NIC on a desktop, is one of these, or similar

I've been having a hell of a job trying to find a working wireless for 64 bit linux, bought one of these today and had it set up in minutes. Just plug into your ethernet card, configure the box as a station and away you go.

Cheaper than some wireless cards too!
