I did try first nd*1.34. Then I saw a note in another forum about success with rc2 where 1.34 had failed. So I tried that.
I also tried two versions of the win driver (1.0.1 & 1.0.2)
Some combinations actually light the wireless indicator, but don't associate. Others even fail to start wlan0.
I am going to give up till madwifi comes up with driver for my hardware version (it's the one with .11n as well.
Meanwhile I'll get a card or key to be able to function.

I had obtained my drivers from the manufacturers of plug-in cards.
It only occurred to me an hour ago that maybe the driver that came with my OEM windows would be more adequate.
Indeed that ar5416 is one generation later than the downloaded ones...
As soon as I nstalled it, everything went fine.

Which driver did you use? I'm having the same problem, and would LOVE to get this resolved. Madwifi still doesn't have a working driver...

I just copied the driver from the Windows installation. If you bought a card, it must have come with a disk containing the installation materials for Windows. Get the folder that contains the driver and the .inf file, and the ndiswrapper utilities will do the rest.
If you did not have an installation disk, likely the manufacturer's website will have a download section.

Damn, I already did that. It didn't free right away, but when I rebooted and logged into X (Ubuntu 6.10), the system would freeze every time.

I'm thinking of creating a startup script to remove the ndiswrapper on boot, then add it after login and see if that works. That'd be a real pain though.

Can you post your drivers? Perhaps my CD came with newer versions.
