fedora core 2 encryption problem

I've got FC2 on my Toshiba laptop, and I'm having trouble getting the encryption working.

I have a Netgear WGR614 wireless router, and a Netgear MA401 PCMCIA card.

The wireless works fine when encryption isn't enabled, but when I try enabling either 40 bit or 128 bit encryption I can't connect to the router.

the network configuration wizard says to add 0x in front of the key, but even with the 0x prior to the key, it won't connect.

I'm new to wireless networking in Linux, so any pointers you can give me to help me get this working are greatly appreciated.
