Fedora Core 2 and Linksys Wireless card - No Go

I just created a dual boot laptop, Win2k and FC2 on a Dell Latitude CPi and my Linksys wireless card (forgive me for not giving the exact model, I am at work, and all the hardware is at home) doesn't work with FC2. During the restart after the install, Kudzu came up saying there was removed hardware, a Linksys Wireless card. In Windows, the card works.

If during the install, it recognized the card, installed some drivers and what-not, why did it immediately say it was removed? And how do I get it to recognize it again?

I had a problem with kudzu screwing up my networking before. In safe mode, the networking worked, but upon regular bootup, the networking didn't work. I turned off kudzu then all was well.

Is this a similar situation with the linksys card?

You can probably use ndiswrapper. Find your model name etc and then check in the ndiswrapper wiki if it's supported. The ndiswrapper site has all installation information as well. IMO the problem with some newbiefriendly distros is that they try to install cards that only work with ndiswrapper but you need windows drivers for the card then so ndiswrapper won't be part of the installation. Instead of pretending they fix the card they should leave some message or so to let the user know what to use to get their card working.

It works different then in windows cause 1) it's linux and 2) there aren't many open source drivers around so for a lot of cards you have to resort to ndiswrapper or similar options.
