fc4 wg111v2 prism54 help
 

Sorry if this kind of question has been posted before. I've tried going through search but haven't found anything of help.

I'm running FC4. I have a neat WG111V2 usb wireless ethernet adapter. When I plug the adapter in, FC4 does not detect it. I've tried installing prism54usb-official from jbnote.free.fr. I compiled it and copied the resulting .ko file into /lib/firmware/drivers/net/wireless. I've also set privileges for it. I've copied the 2.5.8.0 firmware with x2 header into the directory stated in firmware.agent. I named it isl3887usb. I've executed the following commands:

depmod
hotplug isl3887usb
modprobe prism54u

I didn't get any errors, but the light on my USB adapter won't go on. When I try iwconfig on wlan0, it says the hardware is not there.

Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong? I don't even know what I'm doing when I type in the command "hotplug isl3887usb".
