Ethernet wireless bridge

I bought a SMCWEBT-G wireless ethernet bridge to enable a wireless connection from a Laptop to my LAN which has a 4 port router and adsl modem in one.
I would like to know if any setup has to be installed in this unit - or does it just work (like a usb stick for instance). When connected, the light indicating the LAN illuminates. I am using SUSE 10.2

I read the online manual at a glance and says to set the IP of the connected machine to 192.168.2.2, gateway to 192.168.2.1 and subnet 255.255.255.0. Then you can use your browser to connect to http;//192.168.2.1 and configure the bridge to interface with your wireless 4 port adsl router. I am assuming the 4 port router is wireless? If you do not have a wireless access point then the device you have will not work.

Thanks for coming back to me.
The unit is a wireless to ethernet bridge and is plugged into an ethernet port of my router which is not wireless.
The main thing I would like to know is : Do I have to configure it (the wireless to ethernet bridge), other than setting my laptop to go for address 192.168.2.25 subnet 255.255.255.0 ?
If not, I then know to devote my energies to getting the laptop setup. If I have 2 setups to do, it becomes a lot more difficult.

I read the manual a bit harder. The web interface IP is actually 192.168.2.25. So you cannot have two machines with the same IP. Now what Class C IP range is the lan on the 4 port using. If not using 192.168.2.0/24 then you are going to need to reset the lan configuration on the wireless bridge to use the same one the 4 port router is using. then the bridge needs to be set as an access point mode. You may need to use a crossover cable between the bridge and router. Not sure on that. Only way to confirm is connect the laptop directly to the bridge and setup like decribed above with an IP of 192.168.2.2, gateway 192.168.2.1 and subnet 255.25.255.0. Then access the web interface at 192.168.2.25. If you can do that then disconnect the bridge and connect to one of the lan ports on the switch. Then using a machine or the laptop connect to the 192.168.2.25. if it does not then you may need a crossover cable there.
