Enabling Ipw3945 Monitor mode
after several hours of messing around with BackTrack...I have finally gotten the ipw3945 drivers to work on it....(I am a newbie...but I learn quick)
anyway...I resolved an ip address and I can use the internet as I please....but I cannot get kismet working or any other sort of monitoring programs I guess the basic question is how I get monitor mode working...when I turn it on...it gives me an error and says Error for wireless request "set Mode" (8B06) Set failed on device eth1 ; invalid argument ...and the command I used is "iwconfig eth1 mode monitor" it should turn on but it isn't... I am using the lastest IEEE80211 and the latest drivers... how do I go about getting this on..? |
I have got it to work with the newer intel drivers. however the monitor mode sucks really badly. It barely picks up any IVs, I have swap it with the 2200bg and its great. I think it either is the bad drivers or the card just doesn't support monitoring and injections very well.
I run 2 wifi cards simultaneously to compare them the ipw3945 picks up 1/10 of the IVs compared to another atheros chip card. So you could spend weeks trying to gather enough IVs. |
well I got a d-link dwl-g122 ..this should work right?
