I'm having quite sometime trying to get my USB DWL-G122 to work under Debian Sarge. I have installed ndiswrapper sucessfully with some interesting results. Here are what various commands show:
iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.
eth0 no wireless extensions.
eth1 no wireless extensions.
sit0 no wireless extensions.
modprobe ndiswrapper
(no errors)
dmesg (after above commands and plugging unit in and out)
ndiswrapper version 1.1 loaded (preempt=yes,smp=no)
usbcore: registered new driver ndiswrapper
usb 4-2: USB disconnect, address 6
usb 4-2: new high speed USB device using address 7
usb 4-2: USB disconnect, address 7
usb 4-2: new high speed USB device using address 8
The actual unit does not light up or anything, but it's fairly obvious that ndiswrapper is reconizing it. However, I have not been able to get the connection wlan0 to appear once. I also downloaded at one point the native linux 2500 drivers from Ralink, with no success, the kernel did not pick up the USB adapter period, and I have tried using both windows 2000, 98 and XP drivers off of the dlink site, and my CD; each repectibly with no success. The unit is in working order, and works fine on a exact duplicate of my system, except with windows on it. I also have tried several /etc/network/interfaces changes as I found via this forum and other things. So far all I can say is that this is pretty strange, and hasn't happened to anyone before. Any ideas on how to get the blasted thing to work would be apprieciated.
Have you tried using the Ralink rt2500usb Windows with ndiswrapper? I have an rt2500 based Belkin usb dongle, and it works with both the Ralink Windows driver and the native Linux driver. Go here: http://www.ralinktech.com/drivers/Wi...06_0.0.3.0.exe
Hi, I have the same adapter and i got it running under Ubunutu 6.06, SuSE 10.0 & 10.1 and Debian.
What you should do is intall the NetRTUSB.inf file from the cd drivers and not the one you used, it should be easy from there so long as after the steps you did above, you should type
Code:
sudo dhclient wlan0
or
Code:
sudo dhcpcd wlan0
you need to find what your wireless card is labelled as in iwconfig as sometimes it is not wlan0 but rausb0 or sumthing, this is specific to ubuntu and some debians.
There is a tiny thing that is of importance, and that is some distro's i need to use the windows 98 drivers on the cd with ndiswrapper and in some distros i have to use windows xp drivers with ndiswqrapper. Tried and worked with version 1.12 and upwards.
Try both and if u cant do it, i'll post a mini walkthrough of how i did it.
