I have got problem I tried to download FC3 many times, I can 4 times form this site and other site,,,from 3 different computers ,,,

always I scanned (RAV Online antivirus),I found this virus message:

F:\New Folder\FC3-i386-disc3.iso->FEDORA\RPMS\MAILMAN_.RPM;1->(RPM)->(GZip)->./usr/lib/mailman/tests/msgs/nimda.txt->(part0000:)->(IFRAME0000) - HTML/IFrame_Exploit* -> Infected

And always the virus is detected on disc2.iso and disc3.iso

I doubt very much that the iso files are infected. This is one you should ask in the Red Hat forum if you are concerned about it.

File with extension mht (Web Archive, single file ,alternate to html file)how can we disply this file in Linux?

I did a little googling, and it looks like a decent web browser like Firefox or Mozilla should be able to open .mht files. However, I did see some suggestions that people were only having success with IE.

As you know, Mozillag comes by default with Linux distribution, Have you tried to open these type of file by using mozilla?

Actually I haven't used these files at all. From the discussions I saw, it looked like they are created when someone saves an entire web site as a single HTML file. If that is true and not just me imagining things, then a browser should be able to read it.

Yes that is true, because i have done that, but I could not browse it, therefore I asked you, I will try and let you know.

Whenever I've changed my kernel, I've always recompiled ndiswrapper against the new kernel. I've found that even within the 2.6 kernel series, changes can happen that break ndiswrapper. For example, I had been using ndiswrapper .11 with a 2.6.7 kernel. When I upgraded to a 2.6.10 kernel, ndiswrapper .11 broke completely. It wouldn't compile at all, so I had to move to ndiswrapper .12 to get the module to compile.

I've never really used up2date so I don't know if it updates the kernel source or not. You should be able to just check the contents of /usr/src and see if you have the source to match the new kernel.

hey guys,

i've just got ndiswrapper running properly on my notebook ... but i just dosen't seem to connect to the router.... i've disabled all the firewalls
i'm using the wpa encryption, got everything cofigured as i was supposed to and I don't get any error messages either!


when i run wpa_supplicant to finally connect it, it says:

"WPA: Key negotiation completed with xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx [PTK=TKIP GTK=TKIP]"

I'm sure there is nothing wrong with the procedures i followed... cos i did the same thing on the desktop and it works perfectly....

Hi Antler.....This is one you are going to want to start a thread about or latch onto a wpa supplicant thread. I have absolutely zero experience with WPA (I'm still stuck in the WEP era) but I think I've seen some success stories around here with wpa_supplicant and ndiswrapper.

If you think that the WPA negotiation has worked, you can try to set the rest of the configuration with iwconfig and then request an IP address with either dhclient or dhcpcd, whichever your distro uses.

Thanks Hangdog42 for the advice......

I follwed the instructions for the wpa from the ndiswrapper website.... As I had suspected, the problem was with the firewall.... I started experimenting with WEP encryption and discovered that the command to get WEP up and running (according to the website) : dhcpcd wlan0
applied the firewall rules.....

So now after following the WPA configuration docs... i just ran: dhcpcd wlan0

It worked like magic after applying the firewall rules!

If anyone's interested, i tried this with SuSE 9.2 with a DELL 1450 dual band adaptor (Broadcom BCM4309 Rev 3)
