Dell Wireless Lan 1370 - No connection
I'm having trouble getting my wireless to work on my Dell Inspiron 2200.
I had no problem installing the driver through "Windows Wireless Drivers" GUI and skipped the whole ndiswrapper process completely. Upon typing 'iwconfig' in the terminal I get the following: wlan0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID: off/any Mode:Managed Frequency:2.412 GHz Access Point 00:00:00:00:00:00 Bit Rate:54 Mb/s Tx-Power: 25 dBm RTS thr:2347 B Fragment thr:2346 B Encrytion key:xxxx:xxxx:xx Security mode:restricted Power Management: off Link Quality:100/100 Signal level:-10 dBm Noise level:-256 dBm Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0 (where the encryption key is an actual hex key) When i type 'ifconfig' i actually get the HWaddr (or access point i assume?) My problem is i can't get it to find my wireless router, (ESSID = "Wireless") and it won't pick up my HWaddr. The KWiFi Manager shows a connection spead of 54Mb/s and 100% signal strength but says "Connected to network: any" I have no idea what's going on, i just want to know the easiest quickest way to get this up and running and it's driving me nuts! |
Hello max_power83!
Is your essid "Wireless"? if so: iwconfig wlan0 essid Wireless This will connect to the network "Wireless" Type: iwconfig The ESSID and Access Point should look diferent. |
I've actually tried that several times and it just keeps giving me the same thing:
Essid= any Access Point= 00:00:00:00:00: I'm about ready to give up with wireless in Linux! |
Hi, I'm new in Linux.
I aslo have Dell 2200 with this 1370 wireless card. after i use ndiswrapper to install the driver(bcmwl5a.inf) for the card and use DMESG to check, I got the message that the driver can't initialize the device (can't request the IRQ 1). Can anybody tell me why? |
