Dell Mini sees wireless router. But, I can not connect.
My Dell Mini sees the wireless router under Ubuntu 09.10. However, it will not connect. It just displays a small dialogue box that says "Acquiring IP Address".
Does it ever give you an error message, or does it just go on forever? What about the router logs or at least the DHCP client list in the router interface, do they make any mention of the laptop's MAC connecting?
WOW! That is one heck of a great resource. Everyone seems to have the same trouble that I have on that website. I am going on an ultra short and ultra cheap vacation very shortly. I will notify you how things worked out in a few days when I return.
I installed Ubuntu Long Term Support 08.04. The wireless connection worked out of the box. However, the resolution was wrong. I could not fix the problem.
Finally, I tried Jolicloud. The wireless and screen resolution worked out of the box. It boots very quickly and loads applications quickly. It also makes excellent use of screen space.
