D-Link DWL-G650 Wireless Card cant install drivers

I'm having trouble installing drivers. I have a Compaq Presario 1687 with windows 98 (not SE). The D-Link DWL-G650 card drivers will not install on my computer. Is there something I can do to make this work or do I need a different version of Windows? I have the D-Link DI-624 connected to my desktop and would like to have a wireless network for the laptop. I'm not very computer literate and would appreciate any help. Pete

What Linux distribution are you trying to get this card to work with? and what driver and where did you get it?

I'm not sure what Linux is or does?

Linux is an alternative to windows or the mac os, it's an operating system and a rather extensive collection of applications that run on it.

You're in the right place to find out all about Linux and how to get it installed on your computer and then perhaps how to get that card working with it, however, you are quite possibly in the wrong place to get help installing windows drivers, that's really not this site's mission, thus the name: LinuxQuestions.org

ps: have you tried looking at microsoft's knowledge base (on their website) for this problem and possibly it's resolution?
